It's to relive congestion at Departure Bay plus it takes longer to get to Dep. Bay

Why does there have to be two major teminals in Nanaimo, wouldn't it be easier to have the ferries to HSB and Tswwassen go from one terminal? They kinda did that before Duke Point was built and there was major traffic issues at Departure Bay, as the terminal didn't have the capacity to handel 2 major routes to the mainland like Tsawassen does. Maybe in a few years they will build a Tsawassen like terminal in Nanaimo to handel all 3 routes.

There's not much land around there left because there is another point beside Duke Point called Jack Point which is at the tip of that peninsula, and that's all park. Plus there's that Pulp and paper mill and that was there way before Duke Point was even an Idea in anyones heads. The Bridge that they wanted to put in would not go from Duke Point and across that little strait, it would go a little bit further down behind Harmac ( Pulp Mill ) and across a little Narrows called Dodds Narrows. When I lived over there, we never had the guts to go through there on our boat because of the Currents with the tides, but we went through Porliar Pass all of the time. But anyways, that's the shortest, fastest, and cheapest way across to Gabriola with a bridge.

Remember they use Departure Bay as the spare dock for the Quinsam if something happens because Duke proved to be so inconvient for people.
