I do hope you're not pulling my leg. At any rate, I'm going down to take some photos today. I've never seen her with my own eyes.

Well she's not here in Squamish anymore that's for sure, that dock she was in is now empty so I would assume she really is at Deas.

Yessir, she's definitely at Deas. And I would know, seeing as how I just came back from there.
All things considered, she looks to be in fine shape, although there have been quite a few modifications to her superstructure. I do wish that BC Ferries hadn't sold her. She has gremlins, to be sure (pronounced listing during loading, age etc.), but then, what ship doesn't have her own small quirks?
Considering as there seems to be a need for additional cardeck space, especially during the summer months... Ah well. The rantings of someone who feels nostalgia for an era that he was never part of.
I'll try and post pictures tonight.

Yeah that would be cool if you could post some photos. I never actually seen the Queen of the Island with my own two eyes either. Actually I seen her once from the air over the fraser when she was docked there. That is the only time I seen her.

She has gremlins, to be sure (pronounced listing during loading, age etc.), but then, what ship doesn't have her own small quirks? "small quirks," terrible safety issues. It's really all one in the same LOL. If you ever talk to some one that worked on the ship, they're ussually glad she's gone. Loading was a nightmare, she was underpowered (or ineffectivly powered), was akward to maneavour.... I think the charter company got a really good deal on her, and that's why they still use it.

When she was docked in Fort Langley I would see her at least once a day, sometimes as much as five times. If she comes back I'll get some pictures (if I get that digital camera I might get).

That's so cool to see her at Deas again. I guess she hasn't been there since she was in service with engines and all. Also it was funny, over a week ago she was surrounded with the West Coast Amusements group that's based out of Langley, and they were up and had all of the rides setup around her. It looked pretty weird to see the fair and then behind the ferris wheel was the Queen of the Islands with all of the rides lights reflecting off of her dark windows.

its not multiple destination loading that was an issue, it had to do with her hull and poor weight ditribution on the actual vessel.

Yep, I must admit that it was rather eerie, seeing her at Deas. Like she was part of the fleet, and had never left...
If anyone wants the full set of photos emailed to them, post your address.

I will take some photos too, karl_adelman@hotmail.com
It would of been neat to have gone on her to see what she was like before she was sold to the Fishing Lodge. I would of liked to have seen what some of the older ferries where like in the 60's and 70's seeing I wasent around then.

the upper decks on the nanny and the tsawwassen help get the cars to saltspring and to the mainland from saltspring out of the way. a bigger cardeck also helps for multi destination sailings. although this is one reason why route 9 gets behind in the summer, having to load multiple destinations especially when the number of vehicles for each drop changes sailing to sailing
