Well I really started going through my 2K+ ferry photos and well - looks like 60-75% of them are heading to the trash. They are good photos, but either too much back lighting, too dark, too distant so there is allot of haze etc - which makes for correcting it a no go (tried), also the photos shot through a window etc.

Why?

becuase they aren't good enough for my new website. either under or over exposed, or taken to far away so the image isn't sharp. At least I can reshoot most of them (not in old colors though).

Why pay for more hosting when I already run a owned server? I will only post quality photos to my new Ferries site so it has a high quality standard.

I was also wondering when you are going to have the viewbcferries.com website up and running. I would like to see these great photos you keep talking about!

Step 1: Go through all my photos and see which ones are good Step 2: Process them in Photoshop Step 3: Sort them out into the right folders for what they are of Step 4: Create 800x800 jpegs of them Step 5: Create 200x200 thumbnails
As you can see from just a portion of the steps I have to do, it's allot of work - more then I realized. Also I just got handed some allot of deadlines I must deal with with work related stuff. Add to that at the end of the month needing to clean install my computer and upgrade my OS. At least with the new upgraded OS it might be able to help with processing the images.

If you're going to dump most of your photos... well, any shots (even lousy ones) of minor vessels would be nice to see. Photobucket would be good. I'm willing to bet that a good many of the folks here would be interested in seeing the photos, regardless.

I have to agree with Fenklebaum on that!

I would like to see them too! They don't have to be perfect for people to enjoy them.

I'd like to add my voice to the many so far who would really appreciate seeing that 60%, Mac Write. Good quality, or not, I'm sure one of the 1st things people on this board value is number of different angles, regardless of quality. In any case, though, I'm looking forward to seeing the new site (and contributing). And I understand that it would take even more time (which seems to be at a premium for yourself) to set up a whole other photobucket-type site, and fully understand if you have to lose the photos. P.S. The photos that you've previewed here so far are quite awe inspiring. I look forward to seeing more

I want to have quality images on the site so that it looks professional and will help sell merchandise to pay for the site and equipment. Also some of the photos are shot a few in a row (like skeena coming into fullford) so I shot like 15 in one minute. Allot of the stuff can be reshot with proper exposure and the bridge shots of SOBC from summer are blown out in most caes - or too dark to recover (I took those) while the Nanny bridge photos taken by Valerie (since we where in the pass by then and she was heading up there) are good a few of them while others aren't. Also big dust spots (but not the problem with them surprisingly). I'd like to add my voice to the many so far who would really appreciate seeing that 60%, Mac Write. Good quality, or not, I'm sure one of the 1st things people on this board value is number of different angles, regardless of quality. I think John needs to get rid of the Guest thingy here so if you want to post you have to sign up. Maybe that way we will get less of these annoying people who come on here just to goof around. Come on Just Me, speak up then?? Who are you??? Afraid to say.

I don't know about getting rid of the guest thingy. This is only the first time we've had a spam problem since TOOBAGOOBA was banned. At least he doesn't mimick members.
