What if BCF took over WSF wouldn't that be wierd they would have to refit the ships to BCF's standards and imagine they might be the largest ferry operator in the world say what is the biggest ferry system in the world

"I" before "E", except after "C" is not an absolute truth.
In this case, it's "E" before "I".
Weird......as in "strange", "funny", "odd".
"Wierd" might be Klingon for "Max Rocks"......

WSF are nothing like the Burnaby class, they are more like the C class as they are all double enders except for a few passenger only ferries.

all the Jumbos and mark 2 etc are all of the same design as the oak bay, sorry for that mistake.

No they aren't. The Jumbo's was the ground set for C class or vise versa but they don't look like the Queen of Oak Bay.

It's only of the same general design. Different hull and engines I blieve, which makes sense b/c of Washington's stricter "in state" building policy. Problems including steel degredation and vibration have plagued many of the older WSF double enders...

They were designed by the same man, in the same office, about 3-4 years later... It's in the Ships of British Columbia.

You sort of think that having Canadian's running - owning an American Ferry system would never happen - or even the other way around - that the Yanks owning BCF. Sometimes it is to strange to even think about.
So here's another one for you. The ferry system / company that goes from the UK to Ireland is owned by Greeks. The Danish own the Fast Ferry & Ro-Ro Truck ferry system in Spain - main land to the island. Now those are some vessels - fast - cheap - new & great food, plus a very smooth ride. If you have a car - you drive in, then drive around inside and drive out the stern - same way you enter. Now that's weird - come in the back - go out the back - sorry no PC correct.

its the same with the coho, except you drive in the side, and then out the same side, there is nothing wrong with this way, just black ball line adoptied this because of the tight areas in which the ship would have to manuver in victoria harbour otherwise.

They would indeed be the largest operator in the world. Most of us know BC Ferries is the second largest, in the world. But did you know WSF is the third largest? Busy coast these days.

Stena or P&O. P&O has default though, just because they operate freighters and cruise ships as well. They even build containers. I think they even own a few ports.

Calais Terminal: www.calais-port.com/Photos/photos/photopresse/calaisHIRES25.jpg . Located on the northwest coast of France, lies the community of Calais (pronounced calay) and the Calais Port, which consists of a ferry terminal, a container port and a car port. The ferry terminal is the largest in the world and is operated by three ferry operators (SeaFrance, P&O (once was Stena I think) and one other passenger-only service). The terminal consists of six berths and probably a capacity for well over 3000 cars. All routes are operated to Dover, the southeast port of England, approximately 60 km off the coast of France.

A terminal such Swartz Bay is so small compared to that I wonder what terminal has the most berths maybe its Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay you might say Tsawwassen is the smallest ferry terminal with the most berths

And then there's Tsawwassen. For sure the largest terminal in North America and possibly third in the world, following Calais and Dover. www.britishcolumbia.com/photogallery/index.asp?catID=27 . Five berths (as we all know) but not quite as heavy of service (although heavier than most routes around the world). The Calais-Dover route, believe it or not, is not all that much longer of a crossing in both distance and time than Tsawwassen-Duke Point.

OK - here's some back ground info that you don't have. P&O for there ferry op - have a sort of franchise system - where they set up or took over many years back a ferry route - in turn they have kept the "brand" name - but actualy sold the route to a private company - who operate it under the P&O name.
Now on the Dover to Calais route - there are six operators - of which P&O has 3 vessels on this single route. On Monday in the papers they were demanding a paymnet of £2M - for lost days when the Port (Dover) had only one berth operational. Due to repairs - upgrade. The 5 berths - 4 of them were shut down for a 24 hour upgrade. Here in Europe there is a lot of seasonal movement in the Ports. With half term - school and Easter coming up - they needed to carry out the works - so down time was required.
As for who is the biggest Ferry operator in the World - well it could be a Russian company. Fred Olsen is a PLC - stock exchange listed buiness here in Europe and they run / operate a number of routes in France - Spain and Ireland - UK - and other countries around Europe - again it could be that they also have build up a brand name - hence when people travel on hoilday they like to see / use a name - product they know - so Fred Olsen name in Spain is very well known.
Dover is a busy port but not the largest - in frieght or traffic - cars / truck ect. Nor is Calais.
Another thing you may not know - that is most - if not all the major ports in Europe are actualy owned by private companies. After WW2 - a lot of the ports were very badly damage - and the governments just didn't the funds to repair them - so a lot fell into private hands. There are a few major - unknown companies - listed on different exchanges that actual own ports - like Dover. At one time it was the parent P&O company, at another time in the 1980's it was Jim Sherwood - American - who owns the Orient Express Train and hotels which runs from London to Viena - he also owned "Sea Containers" one of the largest - if not the biggest Container company in the world.
I have said this in the past and it caused a stir - but I do know that some European operaters have looked at taking on a number of routes inside the BCF system. The main and only problem that I can see is the way that the ferries load cars. Look at pictures of the European way - and you will see that BCF loading - double stacking system is so unique that these companies could not use the BCF terminal - hence there saving grace. Unless BCFTA agree to change the terminals to suit other companies - I am sure Hell will freeze over before that happens.
