I just took an ariel shot of Swartz Bay today so I will post it later, along with a few other ariel shots I got while up flying today. Actually let me see, there are photos of Swartz Bay, Skeena Queen, Quinsam, Coquitlam and New West. Will post them later! Can you please email them to me? sandiam@telus.net |

There must be money in owning a port or harbour - or someone in BC has a sixth sense, starting this link about take overs & what if's.
In the F.T (Newspaper) it was on the front page, that a large property company "Peel Holdings" had just put in a Bank Account £1B - yes One Billion Pounds - to show that they were players - and what do they want to take over -
Mesery Docks & Harbour (That's Liverpool to anyone who follows football)
I know it's also a lot of land - but still - that is just to show the current owners that they have the money, I don't know what the finale amount is for the take over - so what price for the BCF terminals ?
So PR Queen what have you started here???

PR Queen - you started the post - with an idea - as to what would it be like if BCF took over WSF or the other way around.
My comment was that a name is a name - but it is also not who is behind the operation. Like in Europe - Irish Ferries - are actually owned by Greeks - would you know that?
That the ports & harbours and Docks in Europe - per say, are privately owned - therefore open up to any type of commpetition - which in the short and long term is good for the general public. (It appears so far to work - apart from a few very unoffical monopolies within ferry companies trying to fix prices)
Now think of what would it be like say in BC with the same concept - which brings us back to your first post - as to what would it be like if?
- So the point I am trying to make or put across - open to discussion - is what if BCF was taken over by whom and what would it be like? Would these company or government fix prices - improve the vessels - what would they do - that is any different and why would they want to take over BFS - or why would BCF want to take over WSF or any other "Local" Ferry company.
That's the quesation open to the floor - which you started - I added in bit's - which really did surprise me with the possible value of things like terminals -Harbours - Berths & docks ect..
