My favourite, Kvaerner Masa and Aker Yards in Helsinki Finland, thats where royalcaribbean's voyager class ships were built along with two vision-class ships.

there are 20 ship built from your design - I do know of 6 working for IDO in Turkey and 3 others in Italy (They don't look after them that well) Prices from brokers over here are around - starting $3.5M - and I am sure you can deal that down to high $2m (that is USA)

yeah. but then you have to factor in driving them over here through panema (which id fly to go do. cause that would be a trip of a lifetime) then it would have to go up onto the drydock to be completly refitted, and then rebuilt to CSS standards. you would have to figure in about another 1 - 1.5 Million US.

Your a bit wrong there. They would be delivered on a floating dock ship - same way they will deliver the FerryCat. Second part of the deal you do in buying them - have config to CSS reg before hand - as part of the deal - hence you will see that it is a lot cheaper done overseas and as part of a deal a lot cheaper.
So a ten year old design cat like yours can be had for sub $3m us - email me private if your people are interested. Your fig of $6M is way off the mark - unless you have deep pockets and want to pay that sortof money.

the harbourlynx was done sorta like that. she was loaded (with a crane) onto a cargo ship, then they brought her over here, where the refitting was done.

talking about ship transport. does anybody know the rumour going around that a vice-president at bc ferries is involved with a company the transport ships between europe and north america. hmmm could this turn into a conflict of interest when it comes time to bring the super c's over from germany. more to come on this as i get info. keep a watch in the vancouver papers and the t/c in victoria.

COI? you can only have a COI when your a govenment corperation, and BCF is no longer a Gov corp(if you want to beleave it)

the info i have is that it is somebosy just below david hahn(job). this is pretty good as the other info i have received from my informant has turned up in the papers within 6-8 weeks of this person passing it on to me. example is the front page story about the ferries and the fire hazards onboard from last spring.

Too big to make a good speed; they'll go faster on their own power. I see you've seen that show where the oil rig was lifted too. Hmm, didn't you notice how long it took to load it and move it? Pretty long time. I'm sure fuel for the trans-Atlantic voyage will be cheaper than lifting them anyways. Supposedly they are just going to weld the doors shut until they arrive.

i myself am not a ferry union member or employee. but i am related to somebody way up in the union and who also happens to be very vocal when it comes to the union issues. politically i am not a big supporter of gordon campbell and the liberal gov't or a fan of hahnjob

Re Mr. Hahn, whatever you think of him is certainly your right, but I personally don't like name-calling, especially making his name into a sexual phrase.
I admire creativity & humour, but to me calling him "Hahn-Job" isn't appropriate. I guess this is a common issue in any type of politics: whether you can directly insult the person, or just focus on disagreeing with the issues. I personally can distinguish between the person of Mr. Hahn (whom I've never met), and his policies and style of running BC Ferries.
Similar to how Gordon Campbell was treated after his Maui drunk driving criminal act. I don't like some of his government policy, I don't like that he did a drink&drive, but I won't attack him personally. And yet I see lots of pictures of his Maui mug-shot on many student-union bulletin boards.
Sorry for the sermon.....I just like to type. Just my opinion, that I wanted to get off my chest. I respect yours.

Interesting side note - with regards to David Hahn. I have made it known that I would have preferred to have a Canadian - instead of an American as CEO - but so be it. Interesting to see what he has done. Look at the deal they did for the new ferries - now that was very good for BCF - so who ever did the deal - where were they a few years back ? Also I have notice that a lot of the top operational people that have come in since he was appointed - and from their back grounds - have the possible exp to run things. Again - sorry not to see more Canadians in this group - but maybe there isn't any on the market. His choice on who he brings in - but still.
We do need someone with a clear stragety - who is not working to a second agenga with political ends. Some of the PR / Media stuff is bad - not really pro-active to defend his postion
