The long blast means is to give warning to other vessels that she is departing from port, and the short 3 blasts means ship is backing up. That usually occurs at the Mainland Terminals with a single ender of course but there have been times on the the Cow and Alberni when I've gone on them where they have to back out and turn around because of engine problems

I got a question...What about if a ship gives one short blast or two short blasts while underway, or even 4 short blasts?

GET OUT OF THE WAY!, GET OUT OF THE WAY! And sometimes it can go up to 10+ blasts.

Sort of but not really, I got the idea off a site and it supposebly means to pass or give right of way or something

That might be for smaller boats because when you have a larger boat the smaller boats usually yield to it.

I was told by a deckhand on the Nanny that one honk means a right turn, two short honks means a left turn, and 3 blasts means that the ferry is backing up.

I took your quiz, I got 90%. It's a pretty good quiz, but did you have to have all those noises?

Cool quiz, never even thought to try and use that site to make a BCF quiz. I don't think he added those sounds and stuff because I've had quizes sent to me by friends and they use the same sounds and all
