I think M.V because I am a lover for the minor vessels (especially Quinsam and Mill Bay).

All the vessels have "MV" prior to their name.

Yeah, doesn't all vessels with a motor in it have that in front of their name seeming it means Motor Vessel?

I Thought it meant Minor vessel, as S.S means Steam Ship and R.M.S means Royal Mail Ship (Titanic)

Don't think they still use "RMS." Don't know about SS but I don't think it's only steamer now. They use MS now, I know that.

I was thinking they'd be smart to use Spirit for branding consistancy, but that said they'll wanna move away from the previous BCF naming scheme for advertising's sake, I'd suspect.

Yeah I'm guessing the last Queen of..was the Cumbie. Then they called the superferries the Spirits, and the fastcats the Pacificats. That means it has been like 13 years since a Queen has come out besides the Skeena.

MV - is "Motor Vessel" - any vessel over 10 meters has this before it name.
MS - is used in certain countries and means "Motor Sailer" - ie a sail boat / cross over motor sailer.
SS - is Steam Ship - it's power is via steam - and yes there are still some with this name.
HMS - "Her Majesty Navy" Royal navy - either Canadian - Aussie - British - ect...
Here in the UK - we can not use the name "Queen" or "Royal" without permission from the Crown to call any vessel - nor can we use it on a company. When they built the new QE2 - thy had to apply to the Queen for permisson to use the name.

all BCF vessels are MV, so it's a non-issue. Really voting for MV means voting for a self-standing name like the MIll Bay.

Do any of you younger members remember the Apoll Space program - they name the craft after a Pennuts cartoon character - can you name the two characters ?
With regards to names - I still think it should go to the general public in BC - "Queen" on the Major routes as a starting point.
