Has any one heard of or been on then Barnston Island ferry? This ferry is a tug-barge ferry. I think it owned by the Ministry. Heres a pic of it.

I've been on it a couple times...not a ferry. A barge connected to a tug.

I have seen the same sort of thing in Sidney right by the WSF dock. There is this tug and barge that comes in every once in a while and docks at the boat launch ramp next to the WSF dock and offloads all this heavy dumptrucks and machinery I guess they transport to some of the less populated islands off Sidney for work and such.

There's actually a provate one that leaves from Horseshoe Bay, too. It's owned by a family and they sue it to take all there stuff, cars and RVs included to thier island near Bowen somewhere I think. They also grossly overload it a lot and some of the BCF crews are just coutning the days until they go over to provide a rescue.

You're going on the barge you mean? Must be nice to go on a barge...not. I've been on that thing, it's pretty crappy I must admit.

I've been on it. It's the weirdest little thing. When you get to Barnston Is. you must back off the boat (in your car, that is). Very interesting. It holds 4 cars.
There is only a couple of farms and a regional park on the island. It made the front page once.

Just got back from Barnston Island. Wow, that ferry was so neat. The way the ferry runs on continuous service is really cool.
