That's interesting... very. Now is this just an annual refit, or is the lynx going through some extreme upgrading, like they did to the C's?

Not comparable to the Cs, I know that much... she's out for 7 or so days I believe, I'm too lazy to go check.

There's a story in today's Nanaimo-Daily-News about the HarbourLynx engine failure, with a picture of Nick's dad.
"Catastrophic failure" must be a technical term, but it sounds very dramatic. The news story said the vessel will be out of service for "at least 2 weeks".
Would this type of service-disruption be serious enough to kill the company?

Peter Legge (publisher of "BC Business" magazine) spoke highly of Harbourlynx, during a breakfast meeting this past Tuesday in Nanaimo.
I think that this service-disruption happening now is better than if it had happened a year ago......as I think that Harbourlynx is beginning to be seen as an "essential service" to the public (I mean that in an economic & convenience sense of the word). So I think & hope that the public will patiently wait for this crisis to pass, and will then return to Harbourlynx.
Baxter Air & Harbour Air likely don't have capacity to accomodate all the displaced Harbourlynx commuters, so I think the core of Harbourlynx's regular-passengers will return once the engine problem is fixed.

I am currently at the Nanaimo Public library and just walked past the Harbourlynx a few minutes ago which is docked at its Nanaimo Berth. I am actualy suprised its here instead of at a shipyard in Vancouver.

I'm not living in Nanaimo yet, but this constant taking the Harbourlynx taking out of service (for whatever reasons) doesn't look very good to be able to commute daily to downtown Vancouver... hopefully they come up with a new fleet real soon now... Unless the 'cats' would have a service to downtown Vancouver... of course... btw - is there a wireless connection on the Harbourlynx for people with a laptop?

Cascade: The Engine will probably come from Holland. as we need a Re manufactered, as our insurance will only pay for that. JA: We would need to tow her to vancouver. much cheaper to do repairs here Future the lynx is very reliable. except that the engine are getting old and were going to be replace in sept at a cost of 1.2 Million. we would like to have a new fleet. but money is the issure.and a project is in place to have Wimax to Wifi translator for anyone who want to use Wifi on the lynx
