I recently found online a lengthy PDF that has some photos of the Muskegon Clipper aka the Sechelt Queen on her way to Alabama with the crews chucking the bags of asbestos overboard. Also includes a shot of her interior, the crew on the forward parto f the boat where the bridge are is, and the plastic bags trailing in her wake.
I wasn't sure how to post it here and am not even sure you can do that, but if anyone would like it let me know and I'll email it you. Runs from pages 36-38 and gives a quick overview of the fines levied on the owners and what happened.
I contacted the last listed owner of the boat to see if she is still afloat as a casino barge or if she was scrapped. No reply yet...

I didn't even know the Sechelt Queen was around anymore! I would like to see it, but you should be able to copy and paste the link of the pdf on to a post.

Er, that's the problem, I don't have the link, I have the file. It was sent to me by my cousin who's a reporter with the Seattle Times and managed to track it down. I haven't a clue where...oh, duh. I could upload it to my website. Give me about ten minutes here and I'll stick it on the page for the Chinook/Sechelt Queen on the "Forgotten Fleet" section. (I can't believe I didn't think of this before...)

Hey Evergreen, is this the same document that you have on your evergreenfleet.com webpage? I just noticed that new section of your page yesterday.....and it's good.
Also, are you going to publicize or describe your book on this board? I think lots of us would be interested.

Also, are you going to publicize or describe your book on this board? I think lots of us would be interested. Those are most of the same photos in the file that I posted on my...er, rant I guess on the fate of the old Chinook/Sechelt Queen. I'm glad you liked the updated page. As for the book...well, supposed to be out today, but I think they're behind schedule. It is part of Arcadia's "Images of America" series. Light on the text, contains 224 photos from my archives (mainly postcards) or photos that friends or myself have taken. Covers the fleet from the time of the 1951 take over by the state to the present. I did include the vessels that Captain Peabody took to B.C. with him, so you'll find the Quillayute, Chinook, Bainbridge and City of Sacramento in there, along with a sad shot of the old San Diego sitting on the Vancouver waterfront about 1980. (where she was going to be rebuilt as a faux riverboat named "Klondike Queen.") It isn't as intenstive on the history as I would have liked. Arcadia has a very rigid format that had to be followed absolutely. The deal literally fell into my lap and I wasn't going to say no. I tried to select as man seldom seen/unique photos as I could.

I hate to dissapoint you but I am afraid to tell you the ship was indeed either scraped or sank while been towed.
