Some of you may have a copy of the 1967 book "Dogwood Fleet" published by the authors Cadieux and Griffiths in Nanaimo.
In 1967:
"19 ships in all, totalling 51,888 tons, capable of carrying 1506 cars and 12, 092 passengers..."
The roster, as published then:
Old Ships:
Langdale Queen (1903) Pender Queen (1923) Sechelt Queen (1947) Saltspring Queen (1949) Vesuvius Queen (1950)
New Ships: (!)
Queen Of Sidney (1960) Queen Of Tsawwassen (1960) Queen Of Victoria (1962) Queen Of Vancouver (1962) Queen Of Esquimalt (1963) Queen Of Saanich (1963) Queen Of The Islands (1963) Queen Of Nanaimo (1964) Queen Of New Westminster (1964) Bowen Queen (1965) Mayne Queen (1965) Jervis Queen (1965) Queen Of Burnaby (1965) Queen Of Prince Rupert (1965)
It seems pretty puny today, but they proudly said, "The largest ferry fleet in the world."
The parent website Ferry Terminal has full info all the early boats and many more.

You're right!
Powell River Queen is listed in their index as "built 1965" (and definitely in service in 1967), but not included in the 1967 fleet list.
Was PRQ a Dept Of Highways vessel at the time? Maybe that's why it was left out?

Jervis Queen shouldn't be on the new list. She was built in 1928 and was one of the vessels acquired from Black Ball. Also, she was retired in 1966.

Wasn't Jervis-Queen the ex "Chinook II", which was built in the 60's, and was the most modern of the ex Black Ball ships. I think I read this in Bannerman's book. .... No wait, I just checked, and the Chinook-II became the "Sechelt Queen".
Sorry, I could easily erase this post, but I'll leave my thought process intact.....for your viewing pleasure.
