With the subject of the North on TV today, CH did a recap of the Ferry Accidents. Luckily I was recording this, but...
I got up off of my chair when they showed the video of the Freightor nearly cutting the Queen of Victoria in half. I had no idea there was footage of that ANYWHERE!! It's even in COLOUR! It looked like a pretty typical day in Active Pass, watching the Queen of Victoria go through, and then all of the sudden, the freightor gets in the picture and rams the Victoria. The Ferry ended up stopping immedately and bounced backwards.
I will be posting this later today, after I'm done recording three different news stations on the Queen of the North incedent.

Much obliged Klatawa Teen. At the risk of being a pesky gob, however, no chance of converting to mov or mpeg, huh? I'm sorry, I'm using a dilapidated old mac that periodically endures out of body experiences...

I s'pose I could make a .mov or mpeg copy as well, JUST for YOU. Haha, but you'll have to wait a little longer, as it takes a little longer to convert to those compared to .wmv.

Bloody hell! I didn't think the Soviet Freighter went about 30 knots into the Queen of Victoria? And I didn't hear about the private fast ferry colliding into the Queen of Saanich at the same place!

I do hope I havn't caused your computer to explode... Yousendit.com isn't liking it. PM your email address to me, so I could try mailing it to you. Glad you guys liked it! ;D I can't believe that the ferry was going like service speed, and the freighter hit it, and the ferry went backwards immediately with its throttle still going, and was being pushed into its own wake. I sure wouldn't of wanted to be walking around the Ferry when that happened. A few people died on that incedent though, that's the really sad part about it.

Remember too it is like a head on accident in a car. If the freighter was going 15 knots, and the Victoria was going 15 knots, they hit at 30 knots. You would think they would slow down in Active Pass though, plus visibility didn't look too bad.

Yeah, saw it on the news. Apparently the Soviet freighter wasn't supposed to be there at the time?

No, the soviet freightor was allowed in there, but since that accident no freight ships are allowed in active pass.

Actually they weren't the captain decided to take a shortcut through Active Pass 2 ferries are big enough in Active Pass 3 just complicates everything to what the result of the Freightor and the Victoria did. Plus don't forget this was during the Cold War. So the freightor was mostly to blame so they sent BC Ferries a cheque for most of the repair costs. Just think it could have been the Vancouver as well being hit or grounded if it couldn't avoid it
