Hi Guys. I'm planning on taking my kids on the island this summer but as I'm not a regular ferry user I'm not sure if I have to worry about reservations. My plan was to take the Queen of Oak Bay, 6:20am from Horseshoe Bay on Sunday July 2. Even though its Canada Day long weekend I cant see this early ferry being that busy to require reserving a spot. Am I wrong? I did notice that the Queen of Coquitlam shows reservations closed but I think what this might mean is that its the extra sailings that are added to that day.. Its been 15 years since I have been on the island.. so what do I know Thanks everyone.. Tim. Oh incase anyone is wondering.. Im in Saskatchewan

Queen of OakBay in Horseshoe Bay: A couple of days before the sailing, I can assure you this, every sailing on that weekend, both ways, will be full. Prepare for an absolute circus onboard the Oak Bay on July 2nd. I reccomend reservations. Consistantly check space availability. Also, bring snacks, to avoid the long lines inthe Cafeteria. Remeber: Your alternative is Tsawwassen-Duke Point. You can always try the 5:15am Queen of New West, or 7:45 Queen of Alberni. Extra sailings on the Queen of Esquimalt will be added. No reservations. The Queen of Coquitlam will be sailing on a schedule, but will not be accepting reservations. Well, that's my advice of the day. Enjoy your trip Tim! Cheers, -Michael

Not necessarily, QB Teen. I've travelled early Sunday a.m. on that weekend before, and it hasn't been bad. Most people have gotten to where they're going by then.

First thing Sunday morning on a holiday weekend during peak season. I would chance it and avoid paying the extra $15. To be on the safe side I would plan on being at the terminal early - say one hour before scheduled departure.
By Sunday the bulk of traffic will be returning from Vancouver Island.

Thanks for the heads up guys..
My apologies for posting this in the wrong forum originally.. I usually don't miss something like that. I've been reading the forums for hours and got fixated on the stories I forgot to look at the other forums.
Tim.
