Although this may not be fully correct yet, my mom and I have been talking about another ferry trip for next summer. This would complete my list of ferries I have to see. This trip would most likely involve
1: Queen of Vancouver (Pics of other ferries also) 2: Mill Bay 3: Quinsam/ Queen of Coquitlam/Queen of Oak Bay/New West 4: Quinitsa 5: Kahloke 6: Queen of Burnaby 7: North Island Princess 8: Powell River Queen 9: Tenaka 10: Quadra Queen ll 11: Queen of Chilliwack 12: Nimpkish
The A.J might be in there if I can find her. HOWEVER. This trip is not yet final, and is still in the making (I hope we will do it!)

Wow, that's a ways to go. Enjoy the North-Island route, before you kill yourself. Tips for travelling the North Island Route:
-Don't travel at night. One of the worst times to travel on hwy 19 noth for CR is at night. Slow drivers, bad drivers, and there is absolutley NO lighting from Campbell River to the turnoff to Sayward, and then from there to Nimpkish Lake.
-Don't travel in the rain. This road is horrible to travel in the rain, your car dould easily slip off the road (2 lanes only, Campbell R. to Pt. Hardy)
-Don't forget the map. I can't stress that enough, pay constant attention to signs along the highway, and make sure you are constantly on the North Island route until you reach your turnoff.
Have a safe trip, and be warned, this highway DOES NOT[/u] get my reccomedations.

re Hwy 19, north of Campbell River.
I counter the previous post's comments. I find Hwy-19 to be a great road, especially north of Sayward. It's fun to drive, the scenery is good, and there's some character towns along the way.
My above comments are based on my driving of this road, day & night, 8 times in the past 9 years (varying months of the year...not all summer trips).
This is one of my favourite BC drives.

I'll second 'Nanaimo's comments. It's a very nice road- I love the feeling of getting away from it all up there. Coastal Insanity- If you get this tense about driving now, what are you going to be like when you're old enough to actually be behind the wheel?

My favorite part of the trip up to Port Hardy is the Campbell River to Port Hardy section. The first time we drove it we encountered heavy downpours which was crappy but other than that nice scenery. Make sure you have more than half a tank of gas when you leave Campbell River as we were running right on empty and actually thought we were gonna run out of gas until we saw a gas station just south of the turnoff to Port McNeil. You dont want to be driving that highway in a hurry though. Last time we went up in July of this summer we saw a big accident on that section with a truck towing a trailer with a boat, I guess they were going to fast or something cause the boat actually came off the trailer and right into the cab of the truck I think if I remember corectly. But yeah dont speed on that highway.
