Ok, so I am finally getting a chance to do a trip that I have been planning for awhile now. On Friday, October 6th my Father and I are going to be staying one night in Courtney and then the following day heading to Port Hardy. We should arrive Port Hardy around 4pm in time for the 6pm departure on the "Queen of Prince Rupert." She arrives McLaughlin Bay at 1am where we drive off and wait for the "Nimpkish". After putting the car on the "Nimpkish" we will depart at 2:30am, stopping at Shearwater (3:30am departure), Ocean Falls(7am departure) and then arriving at Bella Coola at 1pm October 8th. From Bella Coola we will drive to Williams Lake where we will spend the night and then head for home the next morning. I am really excited about taking this trip. Although I have heard that I better bring my own coffee and snacks on board the Nimpkish as she has no vending machines.

There is 0 Amenities on the Nimpkish. Bring what you need for the long trip but have a good time. and if you have a camera take some pictures.

Firstly, welcome back to the board!
Secondly, your trip sounds great....but I hope you don't have any weather cancellations.
Here's hoping you don't have too much clouds or wind.

Do you have a motorhome??? If you did your all set. That would be nice! Spending all night on a small ferry like the Nimpkish would be interesting, even better if you had a motorhome.

Just think, QPR, one day you'll be able to tell your grandkids...
"Ah spent ten hours on the Nimpkish once... no food, no water, seats so hard it felt lahk the devil hisself was bitin' your rear end,,, waves crashing up over that little bitty bow..."
It still blows my mind that BC Ferries expects people to spend that length of time on a boat with absolutely no comforts- one tiny lounge, no food... still, I have to admit, I'd take that trip in a minute, if I could. It'll be an adventure. Hope you have a comfortable car.

They could have done something such as put in a tiny snack bar which is just a coffee machine and alot of bottled water

Are there any shots of the Nimpkish's lounge? All I got was a qiuck peak inside as the North Island Princess glided into Blubber Bay on a dull grey evening. And, borught to the conculsion based on what I saw, there was NOT much space to move about. But, I'll second to Hornby-guy's comments: if I got the chance, I'd go for it. I'm looking into a trip on rememberance day, if the Jervis Inlet trip doesn't work.

There really isn't any known shots on the lounges I've been on her though. Sadly I wasn't taking pictures then. The Lounge is basically the MC Donalds Seats and Tables. When I went on her that was when the NIP broke down and the Tachek wasn't ready to work so that left the Nimpkish all alone fortunatly the Bowen Queen came in a few days later. the Nimpkish hasn't done the route too much since, only for relief purposes only. I'd like to get on her again someday but it isn't going to be happening any time soon.
