I am doing some Summer-2007 vacation planning, and we are eyeing Mayne Island as a destination.
Does anyone have any experience / advice re a good cabin/cottage rental on Mayne Island?
I'm hoping for Active Pass views, and so I guess that means "Miner's Bay".
Does anyone else have any advice on good spots for ferry-viewing on Mayne Island?
Thanks.

Way back a few years ago (before the privatisation of BC Ferries) I attended a wedding on Mayne. Though it was difficult to remember now, I had a good experience at a place called Blue Vista Resort. Now before you take my advice, I suggest you look at the Discover Mayne Island site. This has a complete list of all the accomodations on Mayne Island + other things to do (Yes, there is other things other then the fact that it is a major hub of Souther Gulf Islands ferries.) Might I also reccomend the Springwater Lodge for a place to eat. This is on Miners Bay, and overlooks Active Pass (and yes, ferries run through Active Pass every 20 minutes or less in the summer.) Also, for something to do, might I suggest the Georgina Point Lighthouse, also overlooking this "Active Pass" of which I speak. Quite a nice place, actually (this is where the wedding I went to took place So, that is all (I'm no travel agent but I can tell you that those places are pretty good). Cheers, -Michael
