The Chelan is back after getting its interior redone and SOLAS upgrades, and the Yakima is back after getting an elevator installed. Anyone had a chance to ride on either yet? I am curious how the Chelan's interior came out.

Are we allowed taking photos of the interiors of WSF??? The reason I ask is this summer we might take a road trip down the Coast of Washington State and Oregon and I want to take the Anacortes ferry across then across to Port Townsend on the Steel Electric Class, and would love to get some photos!

You can, but you have to be careful. Something like that could be considered "suspicious activity". See www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/securityTwo ferries (Kaleetan and Yakima) have security cameras installed. The Jumbo Mark II class ferries also have cameras, but not as many. I have taken photos of ferry interiors and haven't been questioned yet. -- LB

One of the new security "improvements" in WSF is gates at docks where boats tie up for the night. Most of the gates are located at the dock end of the ramp, but one dock (Tahlequah) has the gate at the entrance to the dock. This is supposed to prevent unauthorized people from getting on the ferries when they're tied up and supposedly it was cheaper than posting security guards.
