There's always been talk of a bridge between Vancouver and Vancouver Island, I was just wondering if there's the same kind of talk down there in Washington. The distances seem shorter down there, so that would theoretically make it more feasable. Is there talk of bridges down there or is everyone happy with having ferries?

yes there has been propsal of floating bridges but that wouldn't work. I have thought about the matter and from a geographic view, seattle could be the next san francisco cause you could have two bridges running from seattle to the kitsap penninsula.

We already have a bridge, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. You have to drive quite a ways around, but it is there. You could also drive all the way around through Olympia. This is different than Vancouver Island because there is no other way to get there besides a ferry. Plus the state doesn't have any money to build a bridge across Puget Sound anyways when we need 4 billion to replace the Alaska Way Viaduct, and another 2 billion to built another Evergreen Point Floating Bridge. Those are both big commuter routes that could come down in our next big quake.

the viaduct has been a big issue and if the gas tax innitiative (912) passes then we are not going to be seeing stuff happen, instead, there is going to be a stall in this
