Everyone probably knew this anyway, but the Elwha starts back on the Anacortes-Sidney B.C. run starting with the spring schedule which begins on Sunday. The galley service has come back a season early and will be starting up at the same time--at least on this run. I'm sure those traveling to and from Sidney will appreciate having the option of grabbing a quick bite on the boat--or at the very least being able to get a decent cup of coffee.

Do you mean to say that there wasn't any food service on this run before? And its, what, three hours long?

No, it's seasonal. It comes back every summer. Am I right?
And it's good that they put it back, this summer I plan to go to Seattle via TSW-SWB, Sidney-Anacortes, Port Townsend-Keystone and Kingston-Edmonds (going the long way)

It ran until Labor Day then closed for the fall. The Sidney run was shut down in January. I'm glad they decided to come back a season early. Indications are the traffic is going to be brisk this spring.

I'm just amazed that a tourist oriented ferry run of that length would ever not have some sort of food service. I wonder if you could find another such route anywhere in North America or Europe where a person couldn't get something to eat. Very odd.

Blame the former CEO of Washington State Ferries who allowed the contract negotiations to break down. The state is going to be recovering for years from the damage Mike Throne wrought.
