According to the KETCHIKAN DAILY NEWS this morning, there has been a fire on board the Alaska ferry MV Taku. The fire has apparently been limited to a inside cabin on the vessel. No one was injured and damaged was limited to the cabin. Will post updates...........if there are any! The ferry is currently undergoing annual maintenance at Todds in Seattle.

I noticed on Monday that the MV Taku was off Kingston doing sea trails. I spotted her again today off Bainbridge Island heading South, she then stopped and turned around to begin heading North. Looked like the where going ahead for a bit and then backing down. Anyone know an ETA on her return to service?

MV Taku is scheduled to return to service on the Prince Rupert/Juneau run on 20 July 2007. Her annual maintenance and overhaul was delayed several months because MV Columbia was out of service for a long period last fall because of electrical problems. She was originally scheduled to be back in service by 1 June 2007.
