I suppose this question is a corollary to a posting in the BC "Ferries Busy" thread, but here's a WSF question:
Historically speaking, how long has it been that I can ride across Puget Sound as late as midnight or 1 am or 2 am depending on the route? I know it has been some number of decades, since I have rode the ferry late in the distant past.
Or, perhaps the real question I am asking is this: If BC Ferries is cutting off service to a heavily-populated Vancouver Island by 2245, how is it that WSF will get me across the Sound to Bainbridge Island until 0135, and later on weekends? (And, if I miss that, I can go around anyway.)
It can't really be a money-making venture on most nights. So, why? I presume since it's part of our state's infrastructure, but maybe I'm missing something from the past.
