The Queen of Victoria is currently up for sale for 1.5 million dollars (U.S) . I e-mailed B.C Ferries regarding the sale, but I doubt they would buy her back, considering B.C Ferries sold her for $555,000 Canadian funds.. The website www.maritimesales.com/JP10.htm

Queen of Vicotia has been up for sale since Spring of 2002. I know BC Ferries was not impressed when I notified them, especially since they just sent a lot of engine parts down to them to "help" get her back in operational condition.
No seems to want to grab her at 1.5 mil US so far. It would be interesting to find out what she looks like now. I viewed her bow to stern, inc engine rooms just before she left Deas Island. It was a very interesting tour.
Thanks Ryan rpreddy@sfu.ca

Yeah, I dont know why they sold the Queen of Victoria. The last time I was on her was probably back in the 90's sometime when I got to go up in the bridge on her. It was kind of sad to see her go Our place gets a view of Juan De Fuca straight, and I saw her for the last time as she left. Was there anything wrong with her when BC Ferries sold her that they still couldent of used her? That would of been a big journey for her down there.

I heard once that due to a fire on the Queen of Victoria, her main-car-deck deck-plating had been weakened and would have needed replacement if she was to be used much longer. However, I'm not sure if that's worth selling her.. .since it'll cost more for a replacement (although maybe not in the long run, I don't know).

I found this while scouring the Net:
"An engine room fire also broke out on the B.C. ferry Queen of Victoria in Active Pass at almost the same location where she was rammed by a Russian freighter two years earlier. The fire, caused by a broken oil line over a hot manifold, broke out on the last trip of the night, and the passengers did not reach their destination until the next morning. The ferry was towed to Burrard Dry Dock at North Vancouver for repairs. Gordon Newell, Maritime Events of 1972, H. W. McCurdy Marine History of the Pacific Northwest 1966 to 1975., p.128."

Who know's where is she is right now or even if she is still afloat. She was sold to some shipping company down in the Carribean. I was looking through some old home videos I took, I have like a full tape of videos of the ferries and I have some I took at the Esquimalt Drydock on February 2 1997 and the Queen of Victoria was sitting there along with the Queen of the North and the SOBC. The last video I have of her in service was on the Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen run on November 11th, 1996. So she was in service then, and in February of 97 she was in the drydock. The last time I was on her was that previous summer in 96 when I got to go up to the bridge and blow the horn going through the pass. Later years I dont know if she was in service.

Wow had to go back 8 pages to find this topic again. I looked closely at the details of that link to the sale of Queen of Victoria, and it looks like whoever owned her before ran her right until she couldn't handle it anymore as it says at the very top of the page, she has 2 engines and one only works But then looking on the main page with the listings to all of the other ships, it says that she is "De-listed" now for whatever reason. You can find it here and her ID is JP10 so thats what you got to look for to find her on that page: www.maritimesales.com/Ferries%20for%20Sale.htmOh and by the way, don't you guys think this ferry looks like another Harbourlynx?..Kinda sorta maybe? : www.maritimesales.com/FK10.htm
