Hello StarbucksQueen!
The first photo--the Cap San Diego--sure looks familiar... definitely an older ship.
(Quick Google search...)
Huh. I'd have sworn she was an old American-flag ship by her build. But dated 1961 on the keel, that would be why she looks "American"--those are some of the ships we're still running. ;D

Good photo's S.Q. Thanks for sharing them with us. Interesting how the Stena Germanica appears to have stability sponsons. One has to wonder what necessitated the addition. Looking at the Color Fantasy, I can see her in a Greek Shipyard 15 years from now getting balconies cut into her side. In a post ferry career, and with her cruise ship lines she'll no doubt end up sailing the med.

Was it the Stena Germanica that just recently underwent a major stretch job? Massive vessel.....

SQ: You've given us some great ship tours in the past; which ones were you actually on this time?

I have been onboard the "Stena Germanica" - and it is not the one that got extended, this was the "Stena Hollandica" and "Stena Britannica". It seems that "our" Hamburg museumship is a sort of favourite with you folks :-) Yes the ship has got classic lines - it's a museum-ship, actually moored constantly at port where it is easily accessable for tourists and you can see if you look the ship's hull the "attachment" where it is moored. Just on special occasions, they use tugs and tow the ship on the River Elbe. Here a stern-view of this: i2.tinypic.com/5y2o378.jpg Their official website is www.capsandiego.de Hey, and what would you say - something they should have done with the Kalakala in Seattle and it would have been a much more unique ship than this old freighter .. Picture exceeded 800 x 600, so it was replaced with a link to it
