Here is a link to a video of a ferry in choppy seas. Halfway through the video there is quite a bit of spray comming over the bow. Note the link looks all messed up, but it works. I am unsure of the specific vessel in the video, but believe it is part of Caledonian MacBrayne. This fleet serves twenty-two islands and four peninsulas on Scotland's West Coast. www.calmac.co.uk/fleet.html

I think this is either the MV BUTE: www.calmac.co.uk/mv_bute.htmlor the MV ARGYLE: www.calmac.co.uk/mv_argyle.htmlThese two come very close to what we see on this webvideo with the two line holes at each side. I sure imagine that all the cars would need a soap wash after being splashed by the ocean spray! I hope to get to Scotland one day. Take the train from London's Kings Cross Station (perhaps Platform Nine and Three Quarters) to Edinburgh to see the Royal Yacht BRITANNIA, a train over to Glasgow, another to Fort William, a steam train to Mallaig (with a stop at beautiful Glenfinnan where much of the boy wizard's filming takes place), and a ferry ride to the Isle of Skye.
