John in another thread said he will be going away during the holidays. With no one to moderate this forum what will happen? Will all the spammers and other people come out of the wood work and go crazy on this forum? Or will it (hopefully) stay quiet and un-eventful?

I know I am just concerned with all the past problems and crap. So you will have access to a computer (or your bringing a laptop) thank god.

I don't think Spam will be a problem in the small span of 2 weeks. It hasn't been a problem here in a long time.

Gosh, you're SO right Mac! If John leaves we're all screwed! I have an idea tho, that might save us all. How about in John's absence, YOU run the forum. That IS after all what this is about isn't it? You so desperately want to control this thing, that you can't WAIT for any opportunnitry that comes along. So, I motion that we give control to Mac Write:) Or, HEY! Even better! let's all desert THIS forum & move over to Mac's! ;D

You guys are missing the point - We don't need John anymore - He sold out to eBAY it was in the newspapers. We will have to pay to post any comments on this forum after Xmas time.... What is the world coming to - Internet access on an island? Somebody is dreaming, they can't run a cable that far from his house to the island. Blue Skies in London... Oh Mr. Horn, Sir - where are you? Your requirement is demanded - forthwith.

"We will have to pay to post any comments on this forum after Xmas time...." It might not be April fools day, but I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you, cascade.

Well because Mac has raised the concern about not only this, but the rumour of John abandoning this forum, it is definitely evident that he wants to run this forum. However, I will go no further with this. John has gone away on holidays lots...and we have seen nothing happen, but if it were to get bad, well we always have our own forum. Biff has already been banned, despite what he may respond to this.

On the subject of buying a bridge - not interested - we sell ours to the Yanks.
But hey only 114 days to go.....when it cost us to post on this forum. Start saving those pennies now..

Hey, I was in Tofino for 3 days, and I missed this exciting thread....until now.
Good to see Biff posting here again. He flames people on this board, but with intelligence....so that's commendable.
I think Mac's got some paranoia, and while I have (and always will) defend his right to post on this board, I also have the right to say when he posts something I think is stupid and useless.....and this thread fits both those categories.
John is not our playground supervisor. But for a price, John might be willing to walk you to your car, and to watch your house for you when you're on vacation. We should get a medallion made of John's face, that we can wear around our necks to ward off evil. "Don't leave home without your John Hammersmarck medallion around your neck".
John, can you send me a picture, and I'll buy some tin-foil and some string and make everyone a necklace? Let me know if you'd like me to make one with gold sparkles, for you to give to Jenn for Christmas.
.....really Mac, what were you thinking? a bit co-dependent on the board administrator?

Replying to part of Ultra Walker's post how do we know if it's the real Biff or not it could be anyone who knows

Why does it matter whether it's the "real Biff" or not?
just wondering.

Biff hasn't made a post where he uses his classic signature "-BIFF!"

That could be proof that it isn't Biff

So the deal so far - Biff is Santa Claus, and while John is away - very long cable here - no Internet or even a computer (hasn't reach the islands yet) - then all the children can play. Sounds like fun.
Hey Mac if your going to make a take over of the forum - can I be your Financial adviser - I need to recover my costs when I loss out on the deal John had with eBAY. (It is very expensive living in London)

Re: "What will happen when Johns is gone for Christmas"
It's already happening... take a look as any word that has the letters a - s - s in a row, anywhere in it; for example: TsawwASSen

Ya the ProBoards swear word blocker is strange.

Post by Balfour on Dec 9, 2005 7:16:44 GMT -8
actually it is the words John sets in, and some other setting that I forgot the name of.

ProBoards has a long list of words... I've added a few more. But there's an option that allows the words to be blocked, even if they appear inside other words, which is where you can run into problems.
