I guess that would be a good idea for new ships.
However, you have always been in favour of not slicing and dicing old ships, so I don't think you'd be in favour of putting these engines in existing ships. Especially because many of them will be retired soon.
Also, the power ratings on that engine are fairly high. More likely to be used for larger ships. In fact, only the V's the Spirits, and the C's fit in that range.

Alex, I am not really a big fan of the slice & dice of Ferries - because no one has been able to give a good reason as to the benefit of doing this. Given that BCFS is one of the two biggest Ferry companies in the World - fleet and Passenger size / movement - then why hasn't any of the other world ferry operators done the same with there fleet - like that done by BC Ferries? I can think of 4 very good reasons as why not to do the slice & dice method / route. So far, there has not been a Naval Architect from BC - that has written any papers on this subject - which has been praised in the Ferry World. Why not if it is such a brilliant / great idea - concept - money saving vision? I'm well aware of your opinion of the slice and dice. I wasn't objecting to it, or arguing against it. I was simply stating that putting new engines in old ships is pretty much the same as slicing them up to add capacity. Therefore, it doesn't make much sense to add new engines to any of the ships in BCF. However, the engines do look interesting for new ships. I'm not all that familiar with the finer workings of engines, so I can't really offer more of an opinion than that.
