One simple question: "Why wasn't the former BC NDP's plan of a vehicle levy to support transit, and therefore the 'Livable Region Strategy', tabled at the start of the current decade, adopted?"
This question, asked by many since the BC Liberals' transit cuts following their win of a majority of provincial MLA seats early in the decade, came to mind when I heard a point mentioned by a buisness owner commenting on this new, so-called 'pavement' tax (originally proposed by the former, more-left-leaning than current, Translink Board); the comment, paraphrased, pointed out that if the spirit of the proposed tax is to be adhered to, then it must force the driving public to realize the harm that they are causing to the 'Livable Region Strategy'. ------------------------------------------------------------
Well, when it comes to actual happenings, Ujjal Dosanjh(the current Federal-Liberal 'Health-Critic'), as the NDP Premier of the Province of BC, repealed this tax less than 6 months before an election that he knew, practlically for certain, he would lose.
You be the judge.
