unfotunately our allowing Luna to be accustomed to us has been its demise in Nootka Sound (Conception Point, Near Bligh Island). Witness statement on Global BC (TV) don't read if you're squeemish: "Tug was holding in Nootka Sound... Luna was hit by a propeller... probably killed luna very quickly ...; ... such a powerful engine...the (whale) probably ended up in the prop...; The water became so bloody that we knew it was fatal...; He transfered a lot of social (behaviors) (to) boats... as I understand, the tug was idling very slowly." -------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are a couple past stories about Luna; no current stories have been published about the incident on the internet, yet. www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2004/06/18/luna_040618.htmlwww.cbc.ca/bc/story/bc_luna20040728.html

Big news all day. Interesting that the media spends more time talking about the death of a mental killer whale than a fatal accident on Knight Street today.. or someone needing to be rescued on Grouse Mountain...

And why do they focus on any of those, when there's starving kids in Africa? (no cliche intended)

Oh man, it's about time the d*** thing is dead (sorry for sounding so unsympathetic). So many people made so many complaints about it...and just THAT was annoying. Especially when one fisherman wanted to press charges on the stupid whale.
And then came the Indians, whining that the whale was going to be taken away and returned to its TRUE home where it would be happy.
OH WAIT! This calls for a lawsuit!
There will be one at the tug boat company from the Indians...one at the government from some animal rights activists...one at BC Ferries for raising fares by two cents and one at McDonald's for making a man fat...and some more protests at the government buildings in Victoria...after all, the government is responsible for everything.... (Not literally....)

I knew Keiko was the whale that was the star whale in Free Willy, but he is gone now as well...and has been for a few years now. I canèt remember which Free Wily it was that they pointed out Luna, but I know for a fact at one point they were like, *quotation: thereès Willys sister, Luna!* But then after watching the news last night about it, this Luna is a boy, and was bor in the year 2000. So different whale, just same name.

Yeah I think it was the second Free Willy where they mention Luna! I never knew Luna was a male for quite some time cause that sounded to me like a female name but later did I realize it was a male.
