By statistics from several Websites, including the CFOA (Canadian Ferry Operators Association), here is some statistics of BC Ferries.
Vessels: 35 Terminals: 47 Routes: 25 Combined Weight Carried/year: 188, 000, 000 tonnes Passengers Carried/year: 22, 000, 000 Vehicles Carried/year: 9, 000, 000 Revenue in Fiscal Year (01/02): $533, 700, 000 million (could cover the fast ferries' bill without expenditures)
Every day, about 50, 000 people travel aboard the BC Ferries. As one of the world's largest ferry operators (if not the largest), Stena Line does not even carry as many passengers as BC Ferries. For those who don't know about Stena Line, it is a huge company and the original builder of the Queen of the North. I believe it should be noted, that on the Harbourlynx's Website, it mentioned a previous service between Vancouver and Nanaimo carried 20, 000 passengers/month, which means BC Ferries carried more than twice as much as it did in a month than what BC Ferries carries daily. Perhaps people living on Vancouver Island should think twice about complaining about BC Ferries, because if they were to immediately halt service, stores would go "dry" within a week, leaving them foodless. I'm sure they would come up with somrthing, but I doubt anything could keep up what BC Ferries was providing. To conclude this, it should be noted that BC Ferries is the world's second largest ferry operator....

think about it Harbourlynx carries 22,000 People, WITH ONE SHIP
whereas BC Ferries carries 52 000 +/- 500 each ship. totalling to abuot 22,000,000. last year the 2 albion ferries carried 1.5million cars. while 35 bc ferries could only carr 9 Million. think about it
