It seems that the closed shipyard in Levis across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City may have some life in it after all. The article talks about the shipyard specializing so it isn't trying to compete with Asian ones. Davie was extremely subsidized and produced some of the destroyers for the Canadian navy. www.thestar.com/article/231746

I wonder if the recently-announced refit work for the Halifax-class frigates will be done at Davie ?

They are going to tender it so it is possible. Maybe even Port Weller in St. Catharines may bid. The PM seemed to indicate Nova Scotia and B.C. but that is probably for political purposes as much as anything.
