Is it true the Queen of New Westminster is getting a mid life refit? That thing is like 23 years older than me!
I did notice BCF had put aside funds for improvements to ship's vibration, so I suppose it wuld be a logical time to fund such an endevour, it does have 10 years of service left.
I would, however, rather see the Queen of Oak Bay, Surrey, and Albernia done first.

And when I ask saying 'mid-life refit' I'm refering to a fancy interior redesign like the Cs, as well as all the mechanical stuff they do...

I havent heard anything about BCF doing anything about doing a mid life to the New West the news for getting rid of most of the other V-Class. That would be good because she is different from her sisters with the higher uppper car deck and all.

My understanding is: she already HAD her mid-life in 1991, with her lifting. Ships can only take so much remodelling & additions in their lifespan before it becomes impractical. Despite whatever modicications/additions are made to ships, their hulls usually remain unchanged, & therefore the wear & tear & stress of each refit adds to the aging of the hull. Since she was built in 1963 & already has been stretched AND lifted & is now over 40 yrs old, I doubt the bean counters will want to invest any signifigant $$$ in any more work.

They intend to keep it for more than 10 more years, that puts it at 80% of its toal predicted life thus far. That number would dictate, even to BCF, some additional work.

I wonder what they would do if/when they refit her, like putting the fancy blue wavy carpet in, the fancy comfy chairs, nice cafeteria, nicer gift shop, new coffee shop and nice wood floors in cafeteria and even actually some type of ceiling on the roof instead of that good old asbestos on it and changing the lights on her just like the C's would be awesome but strange. I dunno I can't really see them doing that to her. They may as well do that to the Nanny also and possibly the Burnaby even though she had one on the other ferry operations she's been on but a refit like the Newwest and Nanny should get if it ever happens
