This evening we managed to get out on our boat, to do a usual summer scoll down around Howe Sound. Some things gave me quite the shock as we were motoring along. As we headed out of the harbour and on to the Sound, we sailed past the old Chemical Plant railway ferry dock. Turns out the ramp became disconnected from the counterweights, and has fallen into the water. We also went out to Woodfibre to see if there was any noticable changes. Well, the Ferry dock that the Garibaldi II used to use daily is no good anymore. It looks as if something rammed into the apron, and floating structure, causeing the ramp to sink. The Apron can be seen sticking out of the water now. I tried to get a photo of the semi submerged Ferry dock, but it was too dark out to get a good shot. But I'll post what I got, so I apologize for the beer goggle effect, you just have to look close. For full size: i99.photobucket.com/albums/l291/ferryman_2006/Forum/DSCN0737.jpgHere's some other photos I took as well....I'll probably be back out on the water again tomorrow, so I'll try and get a better photo of the Woodfibre Ferry dock. That sucks about the Woodfibre dock. Did you manage to get out and get another pic of the dock?
Woodfibre was a client of the company I work for and I used that dock many times.
It will be interesting to see that place change over time. Last I heard a chinese company was buying the recovery boiler.

Unfortunately no, I haven't been able to get out again since that evening. Later on during that same even, I was suddenly slapped with a 24 hour flu, so I was stuck at home while my dad went out. Depending on what plans will go ahead, or won't go ahead, will determine whether or not I'm able to get out there this weekend. I'd love to be out there this week though, as the weather is great. My dad has been going out everyday this week...lucky him and his 2 month holiday....
If only I didn't have to work.....Life, and it's little quirks, I dunno....
