Just for your info, sometime in the past 24 hours the BC Ferries Yahoo club has ceased to exist. :'(I know some of us were members of that club.

Wow, that almost counts as a spate of them, relatively, with the similar deletion of Scott's potentially great forum recently. Let's prove that these are merely consolodations and keep up the lively banter here, by all means. Personally I'd like to thank any discussion outlet that came before John H.'s here as every one built the foundation for the robust discussion that can now be found on the internet about not only British Columbia ferries but about the concept of Roll-On Roll-Off ferries all around the world, particualrly interest from and about our cousin-membership/fleet just to the south of us in the great Puget Sound.

There's something I've been thinking about for a long time, and now might be the time to ask something.
There is a great wealth of information on this forum, as well as some of the other forums we have mentioned as having a recent demise.
If this forum were to ever accidentally disappear, either through error or maliciousness, or perhaps even something like a demise of ProBoards, then there would be a lot of very good information lost.
Sure, we could do without the years of accumulated chatter. But in this place are a whole lot of possibly irreplaceable history and comment that could be lost if something happened.
Is there such a thing as a backup system for a forum? Perhaps there needs to be a plan in place to (1) try to ensure that the the great wealth of information doesn't get lost in the electrons of space due to some accident, and (2) like any good disaster plan, where would be a good meeting place if something did happen to here. Just losing some of the assembled minds we have here could be a catastrophe n the small world of collecting BC Ferries (and other things we discuss here) history.
Just a morbid thought.......

It's just so sad that the Yahoo Forum had to go, However, I didn't really like it's layout. I Wonder how many of it's regular members that havn't already will divert here.
