As simple as it sounds, I'm looking for a banner containing atleast 2 ferries that have plied British Columbia waters, though you're encouraged to try to fit more in there, past or present. I don't think that anymore stipulations are needed for this category and I wish all submissions good luck. Nominations will be closed on October 30th @ 9:00 PM PST Forum Flagship Guidelines apply (including new size restrictions).

Here are my submissions: ---------------- #1) 2 Spooks (taken from the Cemetery) and The Nanny: ----------------- #2) Van & Sandwich, hold the mayo: ----------------------- (Late edit: I removed a pic that had the SOBC in berth at Tsawwassen, with MV Columbia out in the strait. Upon second thought, it's not really an example of "when ferries meet", because I ship is at port, and the other is way away in the middle of the strait).

Cadmunkey: You might want to ask permission to use someone else's photograph for your submission. (you'll find that we take that kind of thing pretty seriously here....or some of us do).
If you've already done that, please clarify that in your post. Thanks.
ps: simply putting the "DOT" on the photo isn't enough.....
pps: although not specified in this month's criteria, the tradition has been to post your own photographs, and only your own photographs. Perhaps this month's flagship-moderator can clear this up for you, and for the rest of us.

Chris, you might want to read the updated rules and take note of the new resolution of 800x200. You may enter the pics provided you have resized to these dimensions.

Lookin' good, guys, keep the great entries coming. ...Perhaps this month's flagship-moderator can clear this up for you, and for the rest of us. Apologies for the delay, but yes, you are asked to utilize your own work for the banner contest unless given specific permission otherwise. I've tried to keep this month's theme free of too many undue restrictions to let you folks let your own imaginations run wild especially because of the broad category this time around and to inspire innovative ways of interpreting the only real parameter that matters, the theme, "When Ferries Meet". Good luck to everyone. Graham

...just a friendly plug for the Nov.07 banner contest: Time is slowly running out for submitting nominations.
Also it's time to start thinking about what you like, to get your vote at month-end.
I know that I reviewed this list again today, and again enjoyed looking at the good nominations.
(end public service message)

OK, here's my (first) submission. It's the Tachek and SOVI when the Tachek was replacing the Bowen on route 9a for the July long weekend this past summer.

O.k.... I've been around a while, and I thought I might as well finally get in on this, seeing as I happen to have a picture of multiple ferries. This, of course, goes in the less than perfect picture category, but I think it has a certain mood of its own... it's a scanned pic as well, so the extent of my editing was limited. But, here you are, a crowded day at Horseshoe Bay, in the summer, probably August, 1988. i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff290/Mill-Bay/File0006.jpg

Wow, great photo, Mill Bay! There's just something about that expo scheme that I loved with how the blue and red stripes met at the bow. I'm just barely able to figure out which ferry is which in this one, and had to use the funnels as the key.
Queen of Cowichan, Queen of Coquitlam, Queen of Oak Bay.

That's a good thing, because the names weren't even visible in the origninal scan... it came through at such a large resolution everything was blur. It gets tricky, as well, with two nearly identical ferries sitting side by side like that.

How do you know it is the Oak Bay from the funnel? I would guess it is the Oak Bay due to being in the Departure Bay berth, not the Langdale berth.

I don't have any pics to add, but I will just say, that to me, personally, it is more interesting to see a pic of an UNUSUAL pairing, rather than the more expected pairings ... although WCK's pic at Skidegate is pretty cool for an "expected" pairing ....
