I was just noticing that Queen of Sidneys last day in service when she was on the Powell River-Comox run is this Sunday Nov,28th. That means it will be exactly 4 years since she has provided service for BCF before she went to sit in the Fraser River for what looks like the rest of her life.

I can't belive its been 4 years since the Sidney went out of service 40 years of service for BCFshe was a great ferry I think her lifespan went like this at the begining of her life she started on Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay then Tsawwassen-SGI then Powell River-Comox.
Queen Of Sidney. Began service June 15 1960 from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay. Ended service November 28 2000 from Powell River to Comox

She also spent some time on the Nanaimo-Horseshoe Bay, the pictures I saw of her on that route looked like it was just before the C-Class was introduced so early 70's because don't forget by that time there was 4 V's at the time doing Tswwassen-Sidney so Queen of Sidney would probably be extras on the other routes like the Gulf Islands.

I noticed this summer that the Queen of the North also has wooden handrails. I had thought that the Sidney & the Tsawwwwassssennn were the only ones with the woodies?

Yeah and pretty soon her sister will be gone too and we'll all be missing her as well. Hasn't been 4 years since Victoria left and never to been seen again?

I never got the chance to go on the Queen Of Sydney , although I saw her docked at the westminster quay soon after she was retired. It was my Uncle who is to blame for the decomissioning of the Sydney because he deemed the engine room unsafe due to chemicals that were harmful for humans to inhale. My Uncle is an Environmental Chemist and he often gets called to do testing in engine rooms of BC Ferries, as far as I'm concerned, he also inspected the Queen of the North during her major Refit in North Van 4 years ago.
