I found an old home movie of my grandparents riding on Queen of Victoria back in the 70s and it was just after she was hit by the freightor (repaired of course when video was taken) and there was a scene of the Queen of Victoria was backing out of Tsawwassen and the Sechelt Queen was sitting in the berth beside it. What route did she do back in the early 70s at that point? I know she was on DPB-HSB for a while but thats it But it was neat to see footage of what it was like of riding on one of the V Class when it was only a few years old. The video was in colour and it looked so neat and tidy on the outer deck and there wasn't a spec of rust on her, and it looked like she had a complete new paintjob. I can't tell if she was stretched at all. It didn;t look like it from the front because the part above the bridge wasn't as big as it would be today. But it still had the smaller funnel and had a solarium. In my ferry books from the 70s, they have pics of V Class getting a cafeteria and getting stretched and all that but it seemed like when they got stretched the solarium was added. Oh and one more thing, were the V Class able to go faster at that point of time because there was another scene of going through Active Pass and pass the Queen of Vancouver, (in original form of course) and I don't know if it was the video but it sure looked like those ferries were really ripping around the corners and through the Straight.

Answering your question of where she was. The Sechelt Queen used to run on the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route with the Langdale Queen before the Sunshine Coast Queen came along.

She might've been a relief vessel on Route 1 at that time...
I realize this is a strange request, but would it be at all possible to obtain a copy of that footage? I'd gladly pay you for your trouble. Please contact me at fenklebaum@hotmail.com

Fenklebaum, I'll consider your request to obtain that footage, but I have to talk to my grandfather seeming he did do that filming

The Sechelt Queen also served on the Comox-Powell River run from about 1974 to 1983, at which time she was replaced by th ex C.P.R. ship Princess of Vancouver. The Department of Highways took over this route in the late seventies, early eighties as well.

I sailed on her when she was deployed on Rte 2 for a summer in about 1972.
