Planning a trip on the Bowen Queen?? I wonder where the Capilano will be going for her refit? I remember last year she was in Victoria at Ogden Point. That was different last year as BC Ferries were seen at Ogden Point. And this year, none, I wonder why last year they were there. That's where the Cap got painted.

The ferries were at Ogden Point Last year simply because of Labour problems at Deas Dock. BC ferries did not want thier ships at Deas incase they went on strike.

Hey does anybody know if she actually left for refit tonight because it shows her doing the sailings from 6:25 today with a few operational delays with no sign of the Bowen Queen doing any sailings. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

The Bowen Queen will probably be in service tommorrow on the Bowen Island run. I seen the Bowen Queen on Friday from the ferry as we passed Saltspring. She was at Fulford. But she should be on her way to Horseshoe Bay if she isent there already.

I just looked at the Bowen Island webcam and the Bowen Queen is on the route as of now 9:34am Monday. The current conditions show the Capilano this morning then the Bowen Queen taking over at 2:35 which is wrong cause she is there on the route now. They still cant get their current conditions page right.

Does anyone know if she's coming back this week or what because the Bowen Queen is going to be replacing the Skeena Queen on Thursday (Jan, 27th)

I think if the Skeena is going to be out of service on the 27th and the Bowen Queen will be replacing her then the Capilano should be back this week as the Bowen cant be in two places at once! They had the date she would return to service earlier on the service notice when she first went in to refit. But they dont know.
Also according to the RBI, the Queen of Tsawwassen is going to be on the Tsawwassen to Southern Gulf Island staring on the 31st. The Nanny is suppose to go into refit. No service notice about it yet. Can anyone confirm this???

i had heard from an engineer onboard the nanaimo that she was going to be in refit over the easter period. he also said that she will be getting new carpets, seats and other improvements to the passenger areas and possibly chutes. so i guess she might be going in for a longer then usual refit period.

The cap needs gallery decks but only on half of each side to allow overhieghts.

They should stretch her a bit and make the superstructure longer and then put the gallery decks on her

I disagree, the superstructure should stay the same, nobody wants another alberni on our hands. The cumbie and the cap should atay sister and look the same aside from those gallery decks.

She arrived into Horseshoe Bay at about 5pm this evening as I seen her as we were leaving on the Queen of Cowichan. The Bowen Queen is suppose to be on the Fulford run tommorrow. She Cappie had a few cars on her so it might of been the refit crew as she would of just got out of refit today. So I am assuming after the last sailing tonight to Bowen Island the Bowen Queen will leave and come down to Swartz Bay. I did a triangle run today as I went over to Horseshoe Bay and back and while I was over there did a roundtrip on the Queen of Surrey to Langdale. Got some photos I will post soon.

I know this is a little late, but someone asked where the Cap was getting it's refit. It was in Esquimalt. Also, the Skeena is here now. It seems it's here about every month or so. Maybe they should just take it out of service for a while and completely replace the entire engine and propulsion system. It's constantly getting parts replaced. Talk about a money pit.

the entire reason the skeena sucks is where the engine room is located. right in the middle of the ship. and all 4 engines run right down the deck to the 90 degree bend where they run down to the leg. which puts MASSIVE stress on this 150 foot long proppeller shaft. if they were to shorten it to about 10 feet for every engine, i guarantee you shed lose her reputation for being the "screaming queen"
