Does anyone remember back in the mid 70's when BCF used to have live bands playing in the forward lounges in the summer on routes 1 and 2? Seriously, it's true. I know I wasn't dreaming. I think this was another one of Dave Barrett's ideas.

I remember musicians playing on the ferries. They were in the mid morning to mid afternoon. Not early morning or evening. I think that they only played from May to Sept, during the tourist season.

Remember that various spokes persons for BCFS have told us time & again that "service was terrible" back in pre privitization days. So how could anything good have been happening back then?

That's right. There never were 20 round trips a day on route 1, three boats on route 30, two full sized boats on route 9, or six return trips a week on route 10. Nor were there more clams in the chowder. All lies. BH, (Before Hahn), passengers on minor routes were sometimes enlisted to row. We are truly living in a better age now.

It's pure fiction that the Queen of Prince Rupert used to run out of Tsawwassen in the 1970's in the off season. Also not true you could buy a sandwich for $3.00 instead of $8.00 that it is today.

But back then you went to the Canucks game to see the opposing team. Isn't that still true?... ;D

I think this was another one of Dave Barrett's ideas. I was very little but I do have some memories of musicians on the Swartz Bay run. My memories were confirmed later when one of those rockers became a teacher and directed the elementary school choir that I sang in (My dad told me he was one of the musicians, so I had proof that it was not all a dream).
