Whats the policy with car deck doors, the front ones are always closed unless aproaching the terminal and the back ones are usually closed unless aproaching a terminal but i've seen pictures with them open during voyage. on the spirits front and back doors are always closed. On the c-calss on the upper car deck there were built in lifting gate things now it;s just open with the black fence thing, why and when did they get rid of the electronic gates the spirits have them and they work.

They no longer keep the rear doors open. This is to comply with some sort of international safety standard, so I'm told...

Odd I never see the back doors closed on the V's,B's and Tsawwassen. A thing about the C Class upper car deck lifting gates why don't they bring them back only crew can open them and slide them into the wall

Lifting Gates on the Cs were mechanical night mares, and an unneeded maintenance expense. Once the S class are bumped by the Super Cs as being the 'big kids on the block' I'm curious to see if they loose theirs. They dissappeared on the Coquitlam and Cowichan pretty darn fast!
Back doors were suppose to have always been closed on the V, however the incident with the Victoria in Active Pass highlighted the BCF wasn't following that, and since has apparently been more consciouss of it, but I know I've been on sailings with them open.

Why would the spirits lose their top bow and stern door gates if they work well, there has been no trouble with them, as long as there is maitenance.

By big, I meant "the ones BCF actually cares about" LOL Notice the statement, with maintenance. EVERYTHING works with maint, but as we have seen BCF doesn't always believe in that phylosophy. Check out today's North Shore News for an excellent cartoon on the BC Ferries maintenance policies.
