It hasn't made it to the forum yet, but the Feds are soon to announce a new initiative to address the building of the Artic Patrol and next round of Navy ships, as well as non-combat ships. This is despite the recent to and fro about the cancelation and noncancelation of half of the coastal patrols.
Irving Shipyards in the Maritimes and WMG have both been invited to submit proposals on becoming centres of shipbuilding excellence and it appears the two will square off to get the significant contracts for the combat/patrol vessels.
The non-combat ships will require a very large shipyard and it is thought that Davie Shipyards across from Quebec City will get the new replenishment vessels.
