Me and my g/f are thinking of doing a day trip to Saturna then in the afternoon we are thinking of zipping over to Mayne for a few hours in the evening. Are plan is to take the 10:05am sailing Saturday to Saturna and the 3:55pm sailing from Saturna to Mayne then the 8pm sailing from Mayne back to Swartz Bay. I am wondering seeing we will be on Mayne in evening does anyone know if there are any take out places were we could get dinner? I know there is the Springwater Lodge and I think I have been there before but I am wondering if they would do take out or if there is any places on Mayne in that area that do?? There is another Cafe but that closes at 5. Is there any near Village Bay?? I know Galiano has some and Saturna there is a pub but I can only see two food place on Mayne. Any info would help if anyone know!

The last time I was at Mayne, I had a hard time finding much in the way of anything for food services. I drove all over that Island one morning, and couldn't find much more than nothing but winding rough roads and lots of deer. I know there's a little concession at Village Bay terminal. Otherwise my next suggestion would be to go to Miners Bay to see what you can find.

Hmmmm after sea kayaking - ate at a historic "pub" on active pass - Miner's Bay... pub might be a bit generous but nothing wrong with it...

There's a very decent deli at Miner's Bay that had excellent deals on sandwiches last time we were there, and the good sized grocery store adjacent had a buffet type set up with a variety of hot and cold foods for take out. They're both in the little 'mall' on the main road.

When I was at Georgina Pt Light in November of 2009 I saw no indication that the grounds were closed at night. If there is a closed gate it be possible to walk in around the gate. Using a tripod it might be quite possible to take good low-light shots of passing ferries from the grounds of the light house.
Are you going to have wheels? It is a fairly lengthy walk from Miners Bay to Georgina Pt & back.

Well I eventually want to get back to Mayne Island one day to go to the Lighthouse as I havent been to the Lighthouse in a few years and was just wondering if you could get there at night. I do drive when I go on day trips to the Gulf Islands so yeah I would be driving there!
