This service notice does not refer to the berth 2/3 overhead walkway..... I don’t think it effects operations in massive ways compared to what is happening with vessels going anywhere or breaking down right now.

hahhaha... this is so funny. both of you are talking about different things. pedestrian bridge, overhead walkway = two interchangable and easily confusing terms ferryfanyvr: what u are talking about is the apparatus which physically connects from shore to ship where foot passengers walk aboard. fwiw... i also did not see a service notice, but i think its back in place as usual now. @bluebusfan: what u are talking about is the apparatus which crosses the vehicle upramp and vehicle exit lanes. this is the thing which the photos from n.10 were about

I found this video on youtube, its quite interesting as I havent seen a video like this really before. It shows the docking of one of the C-class ships pulling into what I believe to be Horseshoe Bay.

Queen of Coquitlam just arriving @ berth 2, Horseshoe Bay Terminal. She was doing an extra sailing on a very busy day just after Christmas, and she was running almost an hour late.

Is this the new policy for Bowen Island lane staging?

The Bowen Island ferry is still the red-headed stepchild. As usual, it is late, and today, a new reason for delay. The Cap arrived, unloaded, then started reloading. In the meantime, the Coquitlam arrived. They stopped loading the Cap to unload the main deck of the Coquitlam. We left HSB at 12:03.

When you look at photos of the original Black Ball berth back in- what? 1953? you think, yeah, that's about the appropriate scale for a ferry operation in this tiny little bay. Over the decades, we've gotten used to a major three berth behemoth served by a double level vehicle compound, and adjacent vehicle storage backed waaay up the highway. Crazy. BC Ferries has made the first tentative move to address things, by cutting summer service on route two, and partially reassigning it to route 30. Ideally, Horseshoe Bay should service Langdale and Bowen only, but I don't think all the Nanaimo traffic could be re-directed to route 30, and the old notion of a new route from Iona Island to Gabriola seems a non-starter. It's a question for much greater minds than mine.

Surfing Horseshoe Bay ...
PS: The Capilano docked in berth 3 last night 6:30ish. Unusual, I believe?

Both the Queen of Cumberland and Queen of Capilano are at Horseshoe Bay right now. Perhaps it is related to that.
