Personally, I enjoy the passenger spaces aboard a ferry or any other ship. That's partly why I find passenger spaces to be most interesting about a ferry so, what, then, is your favourite component of a ferry and why?

I would have to agree with you on this one! I like the Passenger Spaces too! Plus I find the Bridge interesting, the Car Decks, Engine Room and so on. I dont know much about engines and the mechanical aspects of a ferry but it's still interesting to see.

I'm a sucker for the bridge and the forward Lounge, the uppermost outside deck, and anything that has to do with the workings of a ship.

The washrooms. You had your own private cubicle, your own space for an hour and half.

For me, It would be the vehicle deck. (ferries/RO-RO ships) I love to watch the loading and unloading of vehicles. I guess I'm just weird that way.

The washrooms. You had your own private cubicle, your own space for an hour and half. That's rather creepy. Either you have a slight problem with your excremental system, or you like reading the newspaper in peace? Anyways, if you're going to choose the bathroom as your favorite place, at least choose a ferry with a nice bathroom, like the Kwuna, Klatawa, and Kulleet, which all have no stalls, so just a nice bing ten feet by ten feet square room with a nice little porthole looking out at the scenery. Quite enjoyable, actually

Actually, what I've said was untrue! *shocking*
No, for me, it would be standing outside on either the starboard or port quarters. Never directly at the bow, or on the sides. Perferably, at the active pass. Without fail, I am always standing outside, throughout the entire pass.
On the Coastal Inspiration, I'm usually standing in the solarium. I can't seem to like the interiors. Too fancy for me. I am used to the old exposed wiring and ceiling ferries. I miss that! I mean, you knew you were on a ship. Now, it feels like you are in a vibrating building that happens to float on water.

Now, it feels like you are in a vibrating building that happens to float on water. Oh, well I'm so surprised! Outside decks ARE the best, aren't they? That's where to find me. It's either outside, or ordering food from the cafeteria. ;D I usually eat any cafeteria food outside in the solariums or where there are tables on the outside deck. I agree with you regarding the coastalized interiors. I definitely prefer the old exposed ceilings and all that. I doubt that'll ever return, though. Probably in 20 or 30 years, every second chair on-board the major vessels will have little seat-back screens the way they do on airplanes, where the passenger could view TV shows, movies, play games, view maps (charts?) of where the ship is positioned, etc. . Everyone's eyes will be glued to those screens, watching videos about the nature and sea life of Active Pass, while it just so happens that they're sailing right through all that beauty with the option to view it all firsthand, outside, actually experiencing it. All of us here'll be grumbling about 'the good old days' back when Hahn ruled the system and we didn't have those stupid screens. Well, what we've got is what we've got, and we have to work with what we're given, so I think we should just make the best of what we have right now. Cherish these years, and when the future comes, cherish those ones too. Every era has it's strong points and weak ones, and a lot of us (not excluding me) seem to enjoy pointing out the flaws of the system instead of sharing the awesomeness of everything that we have. So as I just said, let's point out the good in our ferry system, and not complain about all the less appealing angles. "The Queen of Chilliwack is UGLY" could be changed to "She's not the prettiest, but it's nice to have some different designs in the fleet". "Northern Adventure is a topheavy BEAST" might instead be "Northern Adventure looks funny, but I guess there weren't many choices on the market when she was purchased." ... or we can just stick with topheavy beast. I like that better End of rant

I've said it before (adnaseum to some ) but I like standing somewhere near the front. If whales, dolphins or porpoises are spotted you can cross from side to side quickly without bumping into a lot of people in a lounge to get a better view. Plus I love the outdoors in any weather and come dressed in layers for all conditions.
