Hmm, I may know the source of some of these ship sinkings and 'mysterious disappearances' that occur from time to time....
Seriously, though. He only got 14 days prison and 6 month ban from operating a ship in U.S. waters?
That's way too relaxed. I'd have given him a month in prison, a 5 year ban from operating a ship in my Nation's waters, and a 600,000 dollar fine.
If that hulk had crashed, god knows what kind of damage might've occurred!

Welcome to the American Justice system, where we feel a slap on the wrist is enough.

Welcome to the American Justice system, where we feel a slap on the wrist is enough. Oh really? The United States has the distinction of having more citizens incarcerated, per capita, than any nation on earth. Only four countries execute more prisoners than you do. Whatever problems you may have, law enforcement doesn't appear to be one of them. I think you've been reading too much Teabag propaganda.

That is extremely oversimplifying the system. We have 10 time DUI offenders that only get a handful of years. Our EPA barely fines corporations or for that matter any other regulatory agency. We settle with corporate giants for less than 1% Our patents are being used in monopolistic ways. Also frivolous lawsuits I could go days on end.
