Your submission for January may contain any ferry that is approximately 1/4 obstructed or more. The object obstucting the ferry must be a geographical feature or any maritime-related object. Photoshopping an image to make a ferry appear obstructed is not permitted. You may submit up to three (3) photos for this ballot. Usual size restrictions apply. For further information, please see our Forum Flagship rules located here. Nominations will end December 30th at 9:00 PM PST. Voting will start shortly thereafter.
We'll be selecting the top two photos from the vote. The first photo (lowest of the two) will be displayed January 1st - 15th. The second photo (highest of the two) will be displayed January 16th - 31st.

Would a building like Canada Place or the Vancouver Convention Center count as an obstruction?

:)looking at fug's peek-a-boo shots passing snake isles outcroppings brings me to mind of an old time grounding that Chinnook later Sechelt Q. had here many years ago which was much photographed and brother Wettcoast may have some of the pics. I saved from way back which would fit this thread. probably evergreen and other adherents may have material mater depicting this event, it made quite a splash all those years ago! mrdot.

What about Ferries hiding behind Ferries? It would be acceptable as long as no ferry is left unobstructed..

Ohh, hmm yeah that makes sense, if one ferry is obstructing the second I guess the first still has to apply. Seems logical, so much for that idea. I got one good one though.

S.S. Princess Marguerite II moorerd at her old berth in Victoria's Inner Harbour, Victoria B.C. Canada, I believe it was in 1989. Please forgive the photography, I was about 12 when I took this photo with my old 110 pocket camara. She was built in Scotland in 1948-1949 for Canadian Pacific Steamships, later operated by B.C. Steamships and then B.C. Stena Line. She was sold as a potential Hotel in Asia and finally scrapped at Alang, India in 1997. Attachments:

S.S. Princess Marguerite II moorerd at her old berth in Victoria's Inner Harbour, Victoria B.C. Canada, I'm assuming that this is not an official entry for the flagship contest, because: - there is no 960x240 full size banner attached or linked - the smaller ship is not obstructed - the larger ship is not obstructed by > 25%. But it's a nice picture.

:)I an not good at following these peek-a -boo items but I just clicked on that P. Margurete pic. and thought the Stena Line indignity graphics, make the slug wraps \ or olimpic garb look good by comparison. My how good the original CPR livery looked up against today's indignities. In looking at my old Sidney in her sorry Fraser grave site, I am only thankful that she was never graced with gords sluggs. Happy birthday to all the December members, and forgive me for not noteing all dates. Mrdot.

:)yes, Mike, point well taken, and I guess a bit hipocritical, on my part, I will try to stick to the nautical theme. I think this aging process tends to get me off topic a bit, please forgive my waywardness. :)mrdot.

I'm feeling a bit feisty lately, on forum matters, so let me stir it up a bit with the flagship entries and the approx 1/4 obstruction criteria.
For photos in this thread that are mainly "head on", are you counting the aft-end of the ship as part of the total obstruction? - ie. in the Sturdies bay photo of the 'Burnaby, are you just considering the obstruction of the front of the ship, as being approx 1/4? Or are you saying that since you can't see the stern, it's obstructed?
Or are you saying that if you view a ship at a certain angle (like head-on), then most of the ship will be obstructed because of the photo angle itself, and not by any other structures?
Just curious, as it seems that the way that I interpreted the criteria is a bit different from those that have submitted head-on shots. - I'm not sure that a head-on shot with a ramp-structure blocking some of the ship's bow is what Scott had in mind when setting the peek-a-boo theme....

One from me, SoVI, SoBC, Mayne Queen and the Skeena is hiding in berth 2 as well. As always, please view the full size as I feel the clarity is lost with compression. Full Size Here
