I look at photos of the Cowichan and on the Nanaimo side behind the bridge there is a area of the crews quaters this thing in the pic behind the bridge pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ferries_bc/detail?.dir=b20e&.dnm=03bd.jpg&.src=ph

You can see the salarium behind the shaft and there is an elevator right inside that serves all decks.
