Here's the Beeline...can't tell exactly where she is. She might be on the Keystone run...  Oddly, that looks a great deal like Yellow Bluff on the southwest corner of Guemes Island to me. I've been wrong before, mind. Anyone want to debate? |

Today I went to the Langley Historical Sociality. I bought a DVD that was made from 16 mm film in 1935 by a 13 year old Bill Hunziker. He starts filming Whidbey Island at young age. There area only two Ferryboats movie clips on the DVD. The Beeline is docking at Keystone at the old Ferry dock. The last scene which is called "Departure" Has the old Ferryboat "Whidbey" leaving Columbia Beach. Might be good one for Johan to draw if he already hasn't. There are other great scenes of mostly Deception Pass Bridge, Coupeville Indian Canoe Races, and Oak Harbor's Parade for their Holland Days celebration. Emory in Freeland I just got my copy of this DVD in the mail today. This video is unbelievable in quality. A must for every video library in this area's homes! This video does show the former Admiralty Bay ferry dock as well as the former dock at the south end of the island. Admiralty Dock served as the terminus for ferry service to Port Townsend until the early 1940s. Today's ferry service runs between the Harrison Terminal in Port Townsend and Keystone Harbor at Coupeville. The video was copyrighted in 2002 by Bill Hunziker. Since this is a ferry forum with high interests in ferry history including route history, I am only putting three image captures on this thread with his copyright embedded on the image. Not to be used other than viewing on this thread on this forum. You'll need to get this video to view the moving pictures of the car getting off the BEELINE as well as the other great offerings in this travelogue without the copyright embedded on the picture. The ferry filmed on the south end ferry run was the PUGET, not the WHIDBY as mentioned in the above posting. |
