This month's flagship will involve photos of our ships handling some of the roughest seas mother nature can give us here on our coast. Photos may be taken from either land, sea, or from on board the ferry. The photo must include all or part of the ferry. Photos may include ferries from all operators on the coast (BCF, WSF, AMHS, etc...). Nominations will end on April 29th at 8:00 PM PDT. Voting will occur shortly thereafter. As usual, please note that the maximum dimensions for submissions is 960 x 240. We will allow a spread from 840 x 200 up to 960 x 240 for the header image. Please post your entry as a reduced image to the forum with a maximum width of 800 pixels, as well as a link to the full-sized image below. For further information, please see our Forum Flagship Rules . Read more: ferriesbc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=flagship&action=display&thread=7883#ixzz1ITlzhmuZ

I don't think that this photo qualifies as "handling some of the roughest seas mother nature can give us", but I will put it out for discussion... The M/V Tachek heading into the wind & waves en route from Port MacNeill to Alert Bay - 17 March 2011 JST photo ©

That picture is a good example of the minimum

I would love it if member Trackside had some more pics of Kittitas the day he took this one, one that would fit the banner dimensions better, because this would be a fantastic stormy weather forum header! BTW - Ross, if you're out there, this is a hint 2. Tilt - I work in Mukilteo and one of my favorite things to do is to go down to the Lighthouse Park and watch the ferries during a windstorm. Here is the MV Kittitas approaching Mukilteo. from this thread: ferriesbc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wsf&action=display&thread=7773

Well, I dare you to claim this is not over the rubbing strake. I`m not usually one to go out for the header contest, but I just felt inspired somehow this time...

Oh yeah, when I read the phase "Heavy Seas", this photo is exactly what comes to mind. ;D - if everyone relied upon technicalities and ignored logic, we'd be just like a bunch of ferry fans. Well, I dare you to claim this is not over the rubbing strake. I`m not usually one to go out for the header contest, but I just felt inspired somehow this time...

Well, just once, we`ll have to have one of the mods do a ferry sarcasm theme for the header contest.

If you want heavy seas, you need to go out into Queen Charlotte Sound or Hecate Strait, as those seas get really heavy whenever a storm blows through.
