Great video of the Victoria leg of the famous pre-WWII Canadian trip by King George VI and Queen. Little did we know at the time what horrible world events were at our doorstep. Where was the CNSS Prince Robert sailing to? Love the opening shot of the gaggle of stewards on the back deck.

I'm assuming that the Prince Robert was sailing to Vancouver, from where the King & Queen would take the CPR train (pulled by Hudson locomotives, in a royal fashion), to Montreal or Halifax, and then ship back to England.

I have to weigh in ... CPR brought the Royal party west by train to Vancouver (Royal train pulled by Hudson-type locomotive, # 2850). The CPR also provided their coastal liner the first Princess Marguerite (or maybe it was her sister) for the crossing over to Victoria. CNR then took over for the marine & rail journeys transporting the Royal party back to Victoria & then on to eastern Canada. So, CN's BC coastal steamer Prince Robert carried the Royals from Victoria back to Vancouver.

CP also provided the ships that carried the Royal party between the UK and Canada, the Empress of Australia on the westward trip & the Empress of Britain for the homeward to Britain trip.

This 1939 video shows the arrival of the Prince Robert in Vancouver (after departing Victoria as seen in the previous video). The Prince Robert appears beginning about 7:37 on the time slider. Other ships seen earlier in the video include Princess Marguerite and Princess Elaine. tinyurl.com/ycyrkxgj

As in the previous clip, we see the large presence of Canadian naval ships, no doubt foretelling of the dark times ahead. I assume that the King and Queen had a naval escort on the return trip to Britain from eastern Canada?

Anybody have Photos of the 1948 Prince George's Uniflow Engine Room/Engine/Boilers? Also, anybody have the specifications and know the origins of the engines? I'm really interested in learning and seeing more about George.
